VeChain, Rekord partner to build EU digital product passport for RWAs

VeChain and Rekord have agreed to build tokenization and Digital Product Passport infrastructure for companies preparing for new EU regulations.

The arrangement positions VeChain as Rekord’s preferred blockchain partner for enterprise-grade compliance systems.

Both firms outlined plans to support businesses facing mandatory sustainability and transparency rules set for 2026.

Their collaboration sets the stage for regulated Real-World Asset tokenization across Europe.

Partnership targets EU sustainability compliance

The companies said the integration aligns with the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation.

ESPR will require Digital Product Passports that connect product information to verifiable sustainability and compliance standards.

Manufacturers selling goods in the EU must implement trusted systems to track items throughout their lifecycle.

VeChain stated that it brings established supply chain experience to the collaboration.

The network has supported enterprise applications for product authentication and sustainability reporting for several years.

Rekord contributes an API-first trust layer that anchors data proofs on the VeChainThor public network.

Executives explained that the setup secures data streams without forcing companies to replace existing systems.

According to both teams, businesses can capture product data at the source through Rekord’s infrastructure.

The platform then anchors those records as permanent proofs on VeChainThor. They said companies can meet DPP requirements while maintaining their current workflows.

Rekord disclosed that its V1 API is already active in production with multi-chain support. The firm sent its first live transactions to VeChain earlier this year.

Joint customers now gain direct access to link legacy software with blockchain backends.

Tokenization framework built around regulation

The collaboration also aims at the rising demand for Real-World Asset tokenization backed by regulatory requirements.

Executives said corporations across Europe face a narrow window before ESPR enforcement begins in 2026.

Digital Product Passports form part of those obligations rather than a voluntary sustainability effort.

VeChain emphasized energy efficiency and scalability within its network architecture. The blockchain has processed supply chain data for global brands, which the company cited as proof of enterprise readiness.

Rekord builds on that foundation to deliver DPP-focused services.

Both firms framed the initiative as a shift from speculative tokenization toward infrastructure that supports mandatory regulatory processes.

Products entering the EU market will need digital twins with verified provenance data. Their combined system aims to become the backend for that transition.

The EU represents the first large jurisdiction to require blockchain-compatible tracking at scale.

The timing places compliant infrastructure providers ahead of the 2026 deadline. Companies without DPP systems risk restricted access to EU markets.
