Mantle Network has finalized its mainnet upgrade with OP Succinct, completing its shift into a zero-knowledge rollup.
The upgrade positions Mantle as the largest ZK Rollup by TVL, with more than $2 billion now secured on the network.
The team had announced plans last year to adopt OP Succinct and build toward this transformation.
With the upgrade now live, Mantle is delivering on its plan to create what it calls the Liquidity Chain, designed to connect DeFi, real-world assets, and institutional users on one ecosystem.
Mantle achieves one-hour finality
One of the most notable improvements is settlement speed. The protocol now offers one-hour finality and six-hour withdrawals, compared to the seven-day exit period seen on other layer-2 networks.
This faster confirmation process is particularly important for institutions that require certainty and efficiency when operating on-chain.
Cost efficiency is another advantage. Using the Succinct Prover Network, proving costs can be reduced to as little as $0.002 per transaction.
It makes it practical for end users to experience the security of ZK technology without being burdened by high fees.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has long emphasized that all rollups will eventually adopt ZK, and Mantle’s achievement signals that the transition is underway.
OP Succinct expands rollup capabilities
The Mantle upgrade also demonstrates the versatility of OP Succinct for the wider Ethereum ecosystem. Mantle needed specialized support for features like custom gas tokens and EigenDA.
But existing zkEVM solutions often lacked full Ethereum compatibility. This created challenges for developers and slowed down adoption.
OP Succinct solved these issues by using SP1, a Rust-based zkVM that enabled Mantle to build a custom state transition function without delays.
As a type-1 zkEVM, it allowed both developers and users to move over smoothly, ensuring the upgrade did not disrupt ongoing applications.
By completing this transition, Mantle has proven that large rollups can move safely into ZK without compromising performance or compatibility.
With $2 billion already locked, the network is showing that ZK rollups are not just a vision for the future but a reality today.
This milestone strengthens Mantle’s position and highlights the growing importance of zero-knowledge technology in scaling Ethereum.
