Bitcoin Genesis wallet receives 2.565 BTC, reigniting speculation around Satoshi Nakamoto

Bitcoin Genesis wallet gets 2.565 BTC, Satoshi Buzz

Bitcoin watchers flagged renewed speculation this week after funds moved into a wallet tied to Bitcoin’s origins.

Analysts noted that activity involving Satoshi Nakamoto-linked addresses often triggered intense debate. However, blockchain data alone does not confirm identity or intent.

The transfer instead revived long-running questions around symbolism, tribute, and coin destruction.

Bitcoin Genesis wallet transfer draws attention on X

Several analysts and DeFi researchers on X reported that a wallet linked to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto received 2.565 BTC.

At current prices, the transfer equals more than $150,000. DeFi researcher 0xNobler highlighted the transaction and questioned whether it signaled Satoshi’s continued presence.

The Bitcoin transaction went to address 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa. That address holds the original 50 BTC Genesis block reward mined on January 3, 2009.

After the transfer, the wallet balance rose to about 57 BTC. At prices near $71,000, the holdings equal roughly $4 million.

Despite speculation, analysts stressed that sending Bitcoin requires no action from the recipient.

As a result, the transfer does not prove that Satoshi Nakamoto remains active. Observers instead described the move as symbolic.

Many X users framed the transfer as a digital tribute to Bitcoin’s anonymous founder.

Crypto analyst StarPlatinum said the transaction resembled a tribute or a burn. He suggested the sender intentionally removed coins from circulation.

Several users echoed that view. Some described the transfer as “throwing Bitcoin into the void.” Others called it respect paid to the network’s origin.

Similar Bitcoin transfers have sparked past rumors

While rare, deposits to Satoshi-linked wallets have occurred before. In most cases, contributors sent only a few satoshis.

However, a six-figure Bitcoin transaction stands apart. It raised questions about motive and sender identity.

In May 2020, Bitcoin users reacted after 50 BTC mined in February 2009 moved after 11 years. Many claimed Satoshi had returned

Blockchain researchers later rejected that claim. They said the coins failed to match the Patoshi mining pattern associated with Satoshi. The evidence pointed to another early miner.

In January 2024, an unknown sender transferred 26.92 BTC to a Genesis address. The funds came from a dormant Binance-linked wallet.

The move removed nearly $1 million from circulation. Some users believed the sender tried to provoke Satoshi into responding.

More recently, Arkham Intelligence reported a 0.185 BTC transfer to the same address in June 2025.

That transaction equaled about $20,000. A few months earlier, another $200,000 in Bitcoin reached the wallet. Each event reignited speculation but offered no proof of Satoshi’s activity.
